The Minox site was only available in German until December 1996. Supplies of Minox film where on back order, Minox announced the CD70 and CD112 and Leica bought out the failing company.

Since then Minox has brought out new compact zoom, made changes to the LX and EC, introduced the classical miniature replicas and extended into digital cameras as well as proclaimed binoculars and scopes. Then in 2002 Minox's management purchased back the majority holding in the company.

The Minox brand recorded sales of € 7.2 million – an increase of 23.1% on the previous year. This success was primarily based on a continued expansion of the sales channels, e.g. in the market for advertising items, and in in-flight sales.
