Fortunately this was not a bad sale and the seller refunded in full and with compensation.
The mint camera was sent by normal international parcel post with a fresh, newly purchased battery. When un-packed this is what was seen:-
The battery had leaked but the corrosion was sufficient that the black anodizing was burnt away the outside of the camera and a strip down the inside of the battery chamber and deep inside the camera. The seller got the camera repaired and cleaned up and the battery manufacturer paid the bill, but of course it was no longer in the original mint condition.
Fortunately this camera is not rare and the value is not particularly high (€90). However some cameras even if not rare are very hard to obtain (still no replacement for this one after several months) and so this is shown here as a warning. Request that all batteries are wrapped and sealed separately or removed before sending any camera. This may mean having also to source a fresh battery to even test the camera, but avoids the risk of it arriving like the one above.
The battery company paid for the repairs and the manufacturer
under took some repair to the surface. It was re-sold, under a different ID.
