On 28th September 2003 I got a phone call from ace Minox reporter Marcus Dunkmann. He rang to tell me about the 1st Deutschen MINOX-Club e.V. annual meeting that took place in Bad Kissingen. Speeches from Hubert Heckmann and Lothar Zapp where given in honour of Walter Zapp who died in 17th July 2003.

I was then given a geniue surprise. Following the meeting there was an auction, and on offer was a Minox 35ML from Lothar Zapp, son of Minox inventor and founder Walter Zapp.

This camera was owned by Walter Zapp and used by him and his family.

Knowing of my keen interest in the Minox 35ML Marcus has no hesitation in acquiring the camera on my behalf, even at over three times the typical second hand price of these cameras. What was surprising was that there was no competition to acquire it.

So this is it. An ordinary looking Minox 35ML but with a unique pedigree.

The ISO dial is well worn, and the camera has seen heavy use, as has the handbook. The inside of teh camera reveals a repair label.
