Kiev Vega (model a)

The first Kiev Vega was launch in 1960 and is the first in a series of models that are based upon the Minolta 16 I. If has a 23mm f3.5 lens with aperture f3.5, 4, 5.6, 8, 11 and shutter speeds 1/30, 1/60,1/200. The name Vega in Russian resembles Bera on the camera but Besa on the camera instruction manual. The Minolta 16 I is marked 1/25, 1/50, and 1/200 but it is hard to tell if there is in fact a difference in speed between the two cameras.

The Kiev Vega 1 cassettes are almost identical to the Minolta 16 cassette and can be used in all Minolta 16 cameras. The filters for the Vega 1 are interchangeable with the Minolta 16 I. Even the Minolta tripod and flash holder will fit the Vega.

Some Vega 1 cassettes also have the clip on the take up spool so that  the film does not have to be taped. These also fit the Minolta 16 cameras.
